Is Carveacre rd closed?

Hey guys, I read an trip report from September that said the end of Carveacre might be closed. Can anyone confirm this?
Also what are the current conditions of the trail. I got a friend who wants to test his Fj on it, will he be sorry

I went with a few people here to carveacre and the end of the road has a house being built on it and the gate is closed and large machinery was in front of that. Don't know if it is still the case, but you can just go up to pancake rock and turn around. You should let the rest of us know when you plan to go.

Thanks for the update. We were thinking of going today but with the rain and limited time we dropped it for another time. It looked pretty rutted from recent pictures adding slick mud to that it might not be what my friend wanted to try first time.
I will keep you guys posted if/when we go. I would rather go with more 4runners so maybe we can get the San Diego crew out there for Saturday morning cruise.
Merry Christmas (I am out of here for the Bay Area).

I am interested in what you see out there. I was ont he last known SD crew trip out there with Brad and basically at that time if you run up it you should plan on coming back down it also. Not a big deal as far as the trail goes but it doubles your time.

THere is no reason a stock FJ with at least the factory sliders and rear locker should have any trouble out there. Just go slow "creep" and get a spotter if you cannot see the obstacles. FJ's seem to have a big hood that blocks forward view a bit.

I cannot make it this weekend but next week some time or the following weekend may work.

Let us not forget the alleged fatal shooting that Brad was so forthcoming about. I believe the source is still in question though.

Brad was kinda under the influence at the moment of disclosure on that. We all were.

I sH** you not about the guy that got shot. A friend of mine emailed me the story that was on signonsandiego.com a few weeks ago about the shooting. Some guy in full fatigues with asult rifle shot someone. I'll try and dig up the link.

it sounded like the shooting took place on an unpaved road in the neighborhood not on the trail. Maybe someone was fed up with people flying down their dirt road? Anyhow, I have like 9 more days off, anyone want to go run this trail sometime before new years?

I was thinking about a day trip some time soon also. Let me check the schedule and get back here on this.

I know Ryan is home for a bit and would probably enjoy some fast stuff. Brad like that last section of trail last Sunday around blowsand. That was fun. If it was all IFS rigs we could all go a lot faster than with the SAS rigs. FUN

If that falls thru I could do Carveacre with you guys.

I would prefer to leave my AR at home and not have to return fire to some lunatic, however.
