I'm a bit late to this thread, but I'm definitely going to be there. 4Runners' representin' yo (man, am I a whitebread or what?).

I'll be taking off the next weekend to drive the Alcan (B.C. to Alaska), so hopefully no major mechanical damage will occur!

Hey Shane? I know that you, Gene, Rob and a couple of others are going down this weekend to run it one more time and to scope a camp site.

Could I ask a favor? As soon as you know where the campsite will be, can you post up a message with the mile-marker?

Reason being is that a friend and I will be coming down and right now we're looking at staying in a lodge or hotel, so we want to get a better idea of what the "commute" will be from the camp site (for the parties!) back to a hot shower.

Alta Crystal was one recommended spot, but they're only offering rooms opn a 3-night stay (fri-mon), so we're still shopping around.

Thanks man!

I'm not. I've got way too many things going on in my personal life right now and I'm struggling to get my axle swap done before the event. I've gotten absolutely nowhere on it in the last 6 weeks. Waiting for parts sucks. I'm sure Rob will have plenty of info on how to find them ("them" as in we'll likely have a few spots in mind as backups), won't know for sure the exact site until one of us gets up there early and claims it. First come first serve, y'know.

Everyone keep an eye on this thread when we get down to the wire, directions to the final campsite location will be posted here on the 30th or 31st.

Hey Mark,
Alta Crystal will be on the west side of the mountain. We will be camping on the east side. Just an FYI.

I believe there is a motel on the eastside that Rob mentioned on an earlier thread. Im sure he'll chimes in.

Well hopefully I will be coming but it is kind of up in the air at the moment... I am still waiting for my authorisation to leave the area (military duty) and it still hasn't come through... I put the request in back in April or May.

I'm gonna rattle a few cages on Monday and get this rolling.

Question Cost of camping?

I am registered for the event but will not arrive until saturday around noon. How many camping spaces or grounds are available up there. Where do you 4ROC guys plan on staying that are not cheating in Hotel Motel Holliday Inn? JK!

We will not be camping at an improved camp site (ie KOA), camping in the area is first come first serve (also free) for the most part. We plan to grab one of the huge open sites that are in the area so we can all camp together. If you won't be showing up until Saturday or plan on staying at a hotel be advised that you'll have to get up pretty early to make the 101 class and morning trail runs.

I plan on camping in my Runner but wont be there til Saturday at noon. I work friday night into Saturday morning til 2am and wanted to get a lil sleep prior to hitting the road. What is going to be going on after the noon hour? I just want to be there. I am still kind of a rookie at offroading. Oh yeah is there a place to check in when we get there?

Ack! Okay, good thing I didn't make the reservation! (there's no cancellation policy).

FYI, Corey needs to up date this page, because Alta Crystal is the only place listed by name:

And it came up a couple of messages below yours... Thanks Shane!

Thanks Mike!

That page is no longer accurate. It's from when this idea was first thrown out. Most of the data there no longer applies.

We have a new page with details that will be up shortly.

I haven't signed up yet, but I hope I can make it. I just got my hy steer crossover on but now the tie rod will hit my pitman arm when I stuff the left wheel. The design was for a front end that was stock to moved forward only 1 - 1.5" Since I moved mine forward 3" to fit the 37" tires.

Now I have to find a way to shorten the pitman are by 1.5" to get it out of the way and not loose my steering. Could get very interesting and time consuming, something I don't have.

Sorry gang I won't be coming after all. I was so looking forward to metting the people I have chatted to here on Yotatech too.

Unfortunitely my military duties over that period have to take priority over everything else and I couldn't get a replacement after all.

Maybe next Jam or get-together I will be able to come and see you all in person.

Well, I opened a can of Cahunas (sp?) and I cut 1.5" off the pitman arm. I hope my welding skills are good enough! Everything fits now and I hope it holds...

Anyone know what the stock toe in is supposed to be on a 82 Toyota front end??
