What is the best year truck for DD, offroad and light towing?

Hey Guys,

Been away for a while but am back with the fever!

I did a search and could not find anything conclusive.

Goal:

* I want to buy a extended cab truck and am looking to see what year is the best bang for the buck.

My Uses:

* daily driver
* light offroading
* occassional light towing.

What year truck fits all three uses and would you recommend??

Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Thank you...

Wink

I would agree but then also add that any extended cab taken care of with a well done 3.4 swap.

89-95 x cabs can be had cheap with a bad 3.0L swap it out for a 3.4 and you got a real nice truck for prob under 5k

what do you consider light towing?
95.5-2004 Taco with a 3.4. Taco with a 3RZ (2.7l) is not too bad and you get manual hubs, a little better on gas.

Towing up to 1500 pounds.

The engine swap sounds good but dont know if I could pull that off.

Is there one or two detailed threads or websites that I should look at before considering the swap?

dont know where you live, but if your close to these guys... http://toyonlyswaps.com/ they have been very helpfull when i called them on my swap. and check out the engine swap section on yotatech. you can also consider a T100 with a 3.4. i will share this after driving my 88 22re over 180k mi. i love my 3.4. it is so nice, smooth, and powerfull it even chirped second the other day.

Thanks for the links....sounds reasonable and it would be a lot of fun in a 1st gen 4runner or truck.

Still looking to buy a truck and OE truck...but....I like having options.
