Potential buy

Found a 94 Toyota pickup 22re, 5 speed about an hour away.
Has 66k miles thats less than 4k a year. Looks to be clean no problems mentioned in ad.
They are asking 5400. KBB said 5100
Would you pay 5k for something like that?

Edit:
Here is the carfax http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...1109#undefined
Seems like it was up for sale alot seems odd no one would pick it up with this low of miles.

I know a used car dealer here that would try to sell that for $7k.

$5k sounds reasonable for a 94 truck that requires nothing that needs to be done to it.

I don't want to try and discourage you from buying it, however. I was in a similiar situation, saw a 94 4runner 3.0 with 112,000 miles 3 yrs ago for 5500$. I had to have it. Talked the dealer down to 4800. Test drive went great. Just moved back to Nebraska from AZ, knowing how much Toyota's go for in Az, I thought man i am getting a great deal in this. Within weeks i started noticing little things that started to worry me. 2 months later i am dropping thousands replacing a blown engine. So, like i said not trying to discourage you but do your homework. I still have my 94 and will never get rid of it. Just wasnt fun having to put a lot of money into something so soon after a big purchase. Buyer beware!!! If its to good to be true, most of the time it is. Also check out tge reputation of the stealereship if possible. I found out the hard way that the guy i bought mine from was notorious at selling quik fix now, major problems soon after vehicles. ( wife was not happy with me at all, lol).

Wish you the best of luck!!!

I payed 3200 for mine but with 300,000 km's ( 187,500 mi )
Needs a timing chain and couple other minor fixes but will
need paint next spring. Frame, cab and bed solid but some
minor rust here and there. It was oil treated though so important
spots are good. I've seen some higher, some for half.
All in all I payed an even price and got the set-up I wanted.

Sounds like a great deal to me if it really is as good as it seems. But like yotafreak said sometimes it is too good to be true, I would give that thing a good going over from top to bottom.

Yep, do your homework. Take it for a good long drive. Check it over before and after.

My personal observation (here in the San Francisco area, where everything else is insanely expensive) is the KBB is often about 20% high. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/4054069349.html

The right price, obviously, is only what a willing buyer and willing seller would agree on. In PA, Toyota Trucks may just be more highly prized, and I wouldn't sweat over the last $1,000 if you like the truck.

I empathize with Yotafreak81, but when you're buying a 19-yr old truck, you can expect the engine to last somewhere between 150,000 and zero miles. Check it out as carefully as you can, but in the end you need to keep your fingers crossed.

Enjoy!
