Looking for an Economical Way to Ship a Transmission

I'm going to put a transmission up for sale and will need to find a way to ship it if the buyer is not local. I have shipped in the past with a LTL freight company that I that I believe was called Jet Air. Either I'm not remembering the name right or they have gone out of business. They offered a cool deal. All their shipping was terminal to terminal, no pick up or delivery, but they were cheap. I think I sent an engine (long block) from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Lafayette, Louisiana for right around $75 -$100. Now I can't find them, so I am looking for another solution. Anybody have any ideas?

Bingo! Forward Air. Thanks for jogging my memory. It's been 10 years since I used them. I got a couple of other rates today that were impossible deal breakers. I'll see what Forward Air has to say post back here if it's substantially better.

My wife just asked me how I can remember that and not what she told me at lunch.... I told her, "it's a matter of importance"

Also if you have a Fastenal nearby, check with them. They ship location to location as well.

Fastenal! The industrial supply company? What do they have to do with shipping for folks off the street?

If Fastenal had a good shipping rate it would be good for me, I live out in the countryside about an hour out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but the neighboring town, only 6 miles away, has a Fastenal.

I'm not sure if you need to know someone there or what the deal is but I've shipped and have had stuff shipped to me thru them. Location to location. It's worth the call tho. Maybe someone else here has more info

Fastenal is great and I have had good luck with them. Anything you send Ned's to be on a pallet or in a crate and you just give them the measurements, weight, and which terminal you want it sent to and they give you a quote. It usually takes about 3 days to get a quote completed as it has to go through their freight department.
