I am most definitely wanting to get up and wheel, very soon! ..... Anyone want to hit the trails in Big Bear or in the 20 - or so + places throughout the Angeles Crest or Apple Valley or maybe even a trip to the Sierras?!?!? Let's plan something soon, peeps!
Also, curious if anyone is going to K. O. H. ....
This is a video of 2013... But there's a lot more out there if you're curious. I haven't been and six years and from what I understand completely changed and become much more radical. I would actually like to go early and then maybe stay through the extreme rock crawling events. Obviously want to do some wheeling myself....
Watch "2013 Griffin King of The Hammers Presented by Nitto Tire" on YouTube
Here is the event main page from presenters Dale Johnson........

There are a bunch of different events including the all-out king of hammers race sponsored by I believe Nitto .... Just surfed for king of hammers a bit and you get an idea. They are expecting around 45,000 spectators this time. I'm not sure I can pass that up, as much as I like the quiet trips as well.

Throw up some pictures Richard? My buddy Redeth005 killing it!

I'm solo and the 90274 code.... Obviously I come to you guys! Lol unless of course you are in L.A. proper like I am.

CHEF I'm down for a trip to Angels Crest National Forest. Let me swap in a new catalytic converter, and possibly the muffler and piping and pass smog then ill join you. Just wanna make sure I don't break anything before that S.T.A.R. Ca smog check. Ill let my buddy julio know so he can tag along in his truck.
Also I don't think Big Bear is a good idea at this time of year. I spoke to Chris yesterday and he told me about his horror story when going out there during snow weather. Said they did an easy trail and he couldn't go up simple slopes. Said he had to gun it up everything and a lot of the times he would slide right back down to the bottom. I'm still up for a trip either way. But I think we might need to make it an easy trail out there. I dunno. Angels Crest is only about an Hour drive. That one seems it'd be much more do-able for a one day-er.

Hey Richard, Merry Christmas Eve! Sounds like something that could definitely be a possibility. I'm used to wheeling in snow from living in East Valley WA/Mammoth, etcm...but HE IS RIGHT! It is definitely a time of year where there is much more carnage. The Sierras are so wide open that when I have wheeled there, its not usually some giant mountain or series of steep climbs that I have to work my way down & out of. Either way, is definitely a lot more difficult to get through and worse, out of trouble if one does get stuck... It's hard and cold work, and not fun to spend the night in I'd it wasn't planned! Haha.
Keep in touch, mang! Lemme know how things are and when are able to go. I'll do the same.

There is still plenty of wheeling to do up there... Especially where we were when you got stuck that one time before you did any of this work to ur truck? Also, where we ran through the mud... That's a very large area that has lots to offer... If its still open. Basically need to call the ranger station, give them the coordinates and crossroads and they should know. It's basically where Mount Emma road meets I believe Ft. Tehon rd. Since 2005 they have closed so much stuff, including by Little Rock dam, which was tons of fun... Why? At least in the Little Rock dam scenario, it was due to an endangered frog. Very interesting, that locals from Palmdale and Lancaster and elsewhere come up and flood the Big Rock Creek area, leave all of their trash, including dirty diapers and other non biodegradable waste, causing basically a type of plague with the mountain squirrels and other rodents, which then pollutes the water and spreads through the deer and bear population..., but they can't keep those scum bags from destroying Big Rock Creek and everything around it???????... Yet they can close off 90 percent of the off road vehicle areas 2 people like us who actually clean up more than we take in?????..... Usually stuff left behind by the formerly mentioned asshats! Lol...
I'm down, let's kill it! Could probably go up to Big Rock Creek and play around in the snow too if we want to. Has Faby ever been to the snow? You? Julio?

hi guys. long time lurker.
i've got a 91 pickup. 4wd, blazeland fronts with deavers in the back and a 3.4L inside. hoping 2014 is the year i finally start making more progress on the truck. i'm a total noob when it comes to 4x4's.
i've also gotten new bench seats, and rock sliders sitting in my garage.
the truck has only done some light dirt trail "off-roading" (holy jim), and will likely take a trip up to see some snow this winter (new puppy). it's main duty is being the surfmobile.
i love surfing yotatech for inspiration.

Here!
I'm in the city of Lake Forest. I frequent Ocotillo Wells, Johnson Valley, Holy Jim, for my wheeling fix. I'm up for meeting new people, trying new spots or just having local enthusiast join me and my crew on out trips.

What's up yotatech. I have been a long time looker. This place is awesome for info.
I live in san clemente (south orange county). I have a 89 pickup 4x4 v6 Auto that I use as a daily driver. But I have been geting more into wheeling now that my truck is geting roadworthy. I mainly stay local like out by holy jims but wanna go out to Anza Borrego more. Just got back from a trip out to the mud caves in Anza and had a absolute blast with my friends and family

Pretty sure I've already chimed in on one or two of these things but I'd like to be more involved in some meet-ups with some other Toyotas. My name is Brad, I've got a 1989 4Runner SR5 with some s-shaped rear leaves (soon to be swapped for a pair of Chevy 63s), 2" BJ spacers, 32s and a Detroit in the rear. Pretty mild by most standards. I frequent most of the fire roads near Big Bear and Arrowhead, Holy Jim, Borrego, Anza, and most areas near my home town of Palm Springs. Looking to put my tread marks in some new areas of SoCal, hopefully with some new people.
