Talked wifey into a test drive.

So the wife has a 1999 Lexus RX 300 Fully loaded, leather and just over 80,000 KMS.

She's been looking to trade it in for awhile now. We test drove a hyunda Tucson, a Kia POS, and some other crap... I've been leaving the FJ Cruiser sales brouchure out, the Toyota 4WD Owners mag open on pic's of the new FJ, and FJ cruiser sites open on her computer (note this is Called Planting the seed)

So Sunday she says. You know that FJ is pretty cool looking honey, What do you think about it...
hymmmm...... I start slowly telling her about the safty features, how it has more room for the kids, cargo space, the fact its a TOYOTA not a KIA, really good warranty ect.. (Note I did not mention anything about offroad
or the fact its rated to tow 5000lbs = the 4Runner on a trailer)

So we are taking one for a test drive tonight. She likes the Silver.

Now tell me how cool that would be. towing the 4Runner to the trails in an FJ.

Leaving in 10 min to go to the dealership....... =)

Nice work. I've been "planting the seeds" myself. Today we did a drive through of the lot and they had 2 FJ's. I had wife and 2 very young chidren with me, so all I could do was sit in the driver seat.

Salesman asked if I wanted a test drive...arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg! I couldn't with my kids screaming and yelling about going home (we were an hour from home).

They are sweet!

I was sitting in the parking lot at work today eating my lunch and rocking out to some classic rock on the radio, when I let the sandwich fall from my hands as I saw a Cherry Red FJC drive by with a brand new coating of mud from the wheels all the way to the silver top. Not only that, but it had a very nice front bumper, along with a tiny lift (or so it looked) and the tire carrier in the back with the FJC cover on the spare tire. The only sad part was that the man driving it was a man with a beer gut and a balding head. I would have gladly traded everything I own for that...

Just wait a few years and you may get your wish.

(And there's NOTHING wrong with bald. Unless a comb-over is involved. Or spray on bald-spot coverer. )

Update

Fully loaded FJ, 6Speed, with rear Diff lock. Sales person let us take it out WITHOUT comming along.

Soooooooooo...... of course I had to WHEEL IT. Nothing to crazy, but there are some nice new scratches and dents on the underside. I took the FJ to a nearby construction site with lots of rocks a couple hills, and various terrain to try out. Put the FJ in LL and engaged the Rear Diff Lock. MAN that thing could climb, aproach and depart angles are the best if seem on a stock truck,

Inside is nice, I dig the plastic/rubber

I was Very impressed with the POWER. Talk about throw you into your seat.
thats no 22RE...

Wifey Doesn't like it. She says its a nice TRUCK. but not what she's looking for, No creature comforts, lots of blind spots, No leather heated seats, no climate control, its noisy on the road, and bla bla bla. But She's been driving the Lexus SUV for the past few years so you can't really compare the too.

I was impressed and defenatly want one. I will have to wait a couple years for the first ones to come off lease, (I hate buying brand new)

Buahahaha.

The moral of this story for buyers awaiting delivery of their new FJ (yes, you) is to specify that yours will be prepped and parked, period. No demos allowed, total odometer mileage not to exceed 5 miles.

Chick truck

Howdy, 10 miles from Tecate,Ca and the fire is coming this way. Regarding wives and Fjs. I had suggested that she try the FJ as we have had Toys in the past and she liked them. (over the last 5-6 years she has had a Disc. but it is 75 miles to the mechanic and only 30 minutes to the Toys. She drove it and we bought it. Color? Yellow I don't care, I got the other stuff. Armor and lockers. It is a chick car. I don't know how many women we have encountered and have liked the looks and want one. My wife is a southern Cal. women, that maybe the difference. I have a question. Where to put the scanner and CB. We are in the middle of a fire again and may need to evacuate the area so will not check back soon. Adios
4000 feet above care

Sometimes you just have to be a MAN about it, and tell the woman you're getting it anyway
