Talking Not So Typical Soccer Mom - New FJ Owner :)

Hi there...Just picked up my new FJ last night and I am loving it - I traded in my kid toting, french fry infested Sequoia and WOW what a difference.

Although I'm still a Jeep Girl at heart (I'm in the process of selling off my latest Jeep, a 2001 60th Anniversary edition) loving the FJ is making the transition much easier.

I'll take some pics this weekend and post them - I'm getting new tires and wheels on tomorrow.

I've really enjoyed reading the back-dated forums thus far and look forward to learning from you guys!

Amy

Welcome to YotaTech Amy.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

What kind of wheels and tires are you purchasing?

Let's have a warm welcome for female #7 to the forums.

Seroiusly, welcome aboard. Isn't it funny how those old french fries floating around on the floorboards look the same as the day they were dropped there?

Thanks for the welcomes!

We're having Pro Comp 7005, 17x9 wheels with BFGoodrich KOS A/T 305/65/70 tires (including the spare) put on. Gonna sell the upgraded ones that came on it.

I also got a 3" Easylift Level Kit (for now) and they're going to install that tomrorow also.

I had the front guard, roof rack and side steps put on at the factory along with PIAA (which I've reasoned stands for Pain In the @ss Association ) and I ordered a hitch to put on ourselves.

Along with the upgraded sound system, Hubs had my Sirius receiver wired through the back of the radio (thanks Hubs!!). Planning to have the windows tinted 35% over the privacy glass (in Florida - we need it!).

I'm attaching a pic of the FJ that I test drove - mine will look almost identical, except I have the sidesteps, when the wheels & tires get on. The biggest difference?? They wanted $7995 OVER the price for the add ons!! They tried to tell us that $6900 was their price (uh, ok, whatever).

So I'll leave with you a laugh and a "She's such a girl" moment... I get into my FJ to drive off the lot last night - hubs is in his own car (an Infiniti G35 - that's another whole talk show) and I look up on the dash and think "Dang it, they said they would fill up the tank before I left and here it's sitting on E.............."

Yup...it was my compass showing my girlie butt which way I was headed.......I know, I know. I promise not to say that out loud publicly!

Recalls? Ain't nothing a good glue gun, packing tape and a few bandaids can't fix....

As far as gas mileage...My Sequoia was a KILLER and quite honestly, the Jeep with oversized tires drank it like water - so other than going with a RAV4, I'd say it's an improvement for me gas-wise...

i dig the new ride...cant wait to see some pictures. so you gonna wheel it or does she stay a road queen? (even if you do keep the tires pounding pavement, it should be one pretty sweet mall crawler!)

Road Queen! Mall Crawler!! Ya got me cracking up...(however it will afford me well during the Christmas season with finding a parking spot - ha! let me see your Dodge Caravan do THIS).

I probably will venture out with it...but it's my every day drive, so I'll have to be gentle. I do plan to get another cash Jeep at some point to really play in, but since my first adventure in my everyday 4x4 went badly a couple of years ago, I'm kinda still on 4x4 restriction...(how did I know it would sink plum up to the doors???) Yeeeaaah...not to mention I messed up a perfectly good pair of cream colored slides trying to dig it out....

There be no recalls on the FJ yet.
Many have seen no cracks in the windshields.

The cracks in the engine bay is being investigated, but many of us have not seen that show up yet either.

Yo, Momma, that cracks me up about the E on the compass
Your MPG will go up with engine break-in, around 5K it gets better.
I am getting a consistent 18.50 to 19.60 MPG combined city/highway.
And this is with a roof rack, 3" lift, heavy aftermarket bumper/winch combo, and meaty tires.
