I wasn't a huge fan of them at first since I don't really like the front, but this thing has really grown on me! With a tubular front bumper and a bunch of other stuff, this would look awesome! I really like the interior though. 3 windshield wipers too! Woohoo!

I was thinking they were signifying that it was the FIRST FJ Cruiser off the production line??

Right, and that's not ugly at all.

I was a guest at the TMS Christmas Party again this year and took the opportunity to schmooze and pump the higher-ups for info about anything and everything.

- Production was cut drastically in light of current events (fuel costs, more emphasis on hybrids, etc.). "Only" 25,000 will be built each year, or a little over one per dealer per month, down from the initial 40,000 plan. Get your deposit down now.

- A special edition all-black model (including the roof) will be released in March. I didn't ask, so am unclear whether that's March production or arrival. Big difference as to when you'd see it in showrooms depending on you POE proximity to Japan. The SE will also have a few minor interior tweaks to differentiate it, but that's being finalized now.

- I won't post it here, but pricing sounds fairly aggressive. Most will be pleased where the 4WD comes in.

- An S/C is in the works, but I rolled my eyes at that one given how many times we've heard that before. OTOH, the Scion tC S/C is out now, so TRD is making slow progress on FI kits.

- All who have driven it are impressed with FJ abilities on and off road. They believe that once word gets out, demand will exceed supply in most markets.

If only I wouldve waited longer, I couldve gotten the FJ instead of my 4th gen.

Truck Trend said (estimated) starting at $22k, $27K fully equiped. That's also the price the toyota reps at the Ojai event said.
