Is it possible to aim the FJ Cruiser headlights? I am tired of blinding people and birds after my lift. I've been looking all around I dont see any light adjustment screws or anything. Any info would be great, out of all the FJ Cruisers that are lifted it makes me wonder did everyone just leave their headlights the way they ended up?

I left mine at the factory setting, and I never get any signs from anyone telling me they are to bright.

I can look in the FSM though to see if there is a snippet on how to aim, but that will have to be tonight or on the 4th when I can get around to that.

 

Corey, that would be awsome! Yeah whenever you get a chance please look it up and let me know, I don't want to drive my truck at night because of my headlight issue! Oh by the way, can you give me the part# to the FSM, I think I need to purchase one!

There is a headlight adjustment channel on the top of the cover. It is a hole and you can actually see the bolt. All You Need Is A Long Flat Head Screwdriver. The bolt sits on a cam just like the one on a hose clamp. Turn it clockwise To Go Down, Counterclockwise to go up.

To aim them it's a bit more difficult.

The adjustment screws are on the back of the headlight assembly. The repair manual seems to require you to remove the grille, the entire light assembly (turn signal and all and including the body color plastic filler under the light) and then adjust the lights, put them back on, check the alignment, take them off, adjust them again, and keep doing this until they are correct, and then re install grille. Of course this all involves the now standard fragile plastic claws in addition to normal fasteners, and requires prying, etc, without managing to scuff or damage anything.

Hey guys you all (rock).

I downloaded the FSM yesterday (all day long) and I saw that. I took the headlightout and stuff... Then I put it back together... For future reference no one has to take it off to adjust headlights. Just need long philips screw driver. You can access them through the top bracket onto the radiator support. There is a plastic bracket with a hole in it that goes straight down to bottom adjuster. The top adjuster has a plastic cover which concealed it from me. for a long time. I got it but only after hours of rigging up fixes like sanding the bracket to let me manually aim the whole assembly etc etc... :'(
