Bent My Control arm
Went out to Prairie City OHV Park(Folsom Ca.) today. Had a great time. Had my FJ & 87 4runner there too. So I headed up the stair case for about the fourth time, but this time from the far right side. Then cut to the left. At the top there was this rock I couldn't see. Well thats all it took. I nailed the rock just right. There's pics of the control arm & shock.



Well know I will have to get new more beefy ones. OH DARN!!!

It was around 16" or so and came up to a point. Just enough to scrap along the frame then onto the arm. My Control arm skid work good though.


They protected the arm mount. I knew that I would some day need to replace the arms, they are a weak point.

I am not an expert on the suspension component lingo, but I believe that is a lower control arm link, and yes they are kind of lightweight.
I won a pair of the All-Pro PRO links (the red ones) in a raffle and just had them put on and the weight difference alone between the All-Pro links and the OEM links is amazing. The OEMs weigh nothing compared to the All-Pros.

I too will be replacing mine down the road.
As mentioned above those are two excellent choices.
There is a new player on the block who is working on some that are of a different design, and from what I have heard they are going to be nice.
I am not at liberty to reveal who it is yet though.

I doubt it since you are in Cali. It was at the Harlan, KY April Fools Toyota Crawl a few weeks back. I'll keep an eye on the articulation but I'm not sure if I would notice the difference even if there is one.

I know a couple of guys with 3rd gens in our club (same basic link setup) got some DOM, cut the link down, dropped the ends into the DOM, and welded it to the stock ends, then put it back. They work just as well as the stock links, but are a hell of a lot more beefy for WAY less the cost. Just something to consider.

I ordered All Pro lower Extreme Links. Paid $211.44 w/shipping & tax.. Should get them in a couple of days. Hopefully by this weekend. I post pics when I get them. Do some side by side comparisons.

Anyhow, Poly bushings may not be as flexible as OEM rubber bushings. That is one reason they are split instead of being solid in a design attempt to regain articulation.

I also want some of the lower control mount skid plates....who makes these??? Also...does'nt someone make skids for the lower shock mount???
