T100 lazy seat belts

I know every T100 (and other Toyota's for that matter) have this lazy seat belt return spring. Any body got a reliable fix for this. I have read advise on the internet about pulling off the side panel and winding the spring tighter, but wasn't to confident with some of the procedures I read. Anyone have a better fix?

i've never heard of winding the spring tighter, but cleaning them makes a big difference. Hair and other crud gets in the windings. I've used a lighter to burn out knots of hair on spindles. Just be careful around synthetic fibers; don't overdo it.

a quick google search for cleaning seat belts should give you some more info.

i've found that cleaning the belt itself with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is an awesome technique for this and many other little things...and it only uses water. For heavy crud or grease, brake cleaner is one of my favorites.

I did the above plus cleaned the belt. Stretched it out on the porch, sprayed down with upholstery cleaner, worked that in with a brush and rinsed with a hose. FLipped belt and cleaned the other side and left to dry in the sun. Then sprayed the belt with some Scotchgard to help keep it clean and the silicone helps to lubricate the belt as it retracts. Has worked fine for years now.

theres an easy way to solve this... when you take your seat belt off... lean forward and throw it behind your back as your getting out of your truck... works everytime. I come back out to the truck and its full retracted
