My 95 5spd is having a hard time shifting into 1st & 2nd
I got a 95 5spd 2wd and I got to basically force it into 1st most of the time. I know this ain't good for the tranny so does anyone know if this is an easy fix? Or is my transmission going to be done for?

Do you have the upgraded clutch pedal bracket? If you do, it should be painted black. If it's steel/rust colored, it could be cracked and causing you problems.
How good are yer shifter seat bushings? When was the last time you inspected/replaced them? Marlin Crawler has a nice replacement one that's much better than the OEM one.
I believe you will need the white seat.

You might want to pick up the shifter bushing as well...

So I replaced both the shifter bushing as well as the seat bushing and when the truck is not running it shifts fine but while running I still have to force it into 1st. I checked the clutch it is the black one. So do you know of anything else it could be?

my only guess is that check the clutch system, see if their is the right enough brake fluid in the clutch cylinder, check the clutch slave and when was the last time you check the gear oil in your tranny, if it isnt any of those than it could be time for a tranny rebuild.

The next thing to check is the master and slave units. You can rebuild them with a kit from the dealership or just replace them with rebuilt/new units from yer favorite auto parts place. Rock Auto usually has some good deals on some close outs.
If you want to go with OEM parts, give ToyoPartsMan over at ToyotaNation.com (aka Gary at Newnan Toyota) a buzz. Let him know that Bam sent yah.

I had checked everything and it ended up being the clutch plate. 2 of the "teeth" on it had broke off and were just tearing up the inside of the bell housing. Luckily I found it and fixed it before any real damage was done. So if you ever come accross that issue now you know what it is.
