Loose Parking Brake?

Does anyone have a guide on how to run new parking brake cable or adjust the current cables?

I just purchased a 94 T100 2WD with the 3.0 in it. Love the truck but the emergency brake when pulled is super light and does nothing to stop the car.

Thanks

Very easy, there is an adjustment at both the drums and also under the truck. You will understand if you crawl under there.

Its also possible the shoes are not adjusted enough. You want to adjust them so the drum drags a good bit but enough it can spin with a hard shove.

So I crawled up under the bed today and took a look around. All I found was the cable coming from the parking brake handle with the spring on the end of it. Looks like this part http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...556&cc=1278659, and it was loose and zip tied to the driver side frame rail right above the axle. Does anyone have schematic as to what it needs to be connected to or what parts I may need to buy. Any walk through or advise would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Take a look here on the More Info button after picking the correct vehicle above it.

Thanks for the link, That def helps some. was able to find out the cable and fastener parts, but I'm wondering if everything will work properly on my truck. I'm also missing the hinged arms the cables attach to on the back of my drums. Cant for the life of me find these part number. On the drivers side I can tell where it is supposed to go but on the passenger side I see no evidence of that hinge ever being there. Am I in trouble? I'll try and attach some pictures.

Yea those cables are supposed to go to a bell crank on the outside of the drum and come from the main trunk line that adjusts under the truck. Looks like someone messed with yours.

Use the link I posted above and look in the rear brake section. You will find the part number there.

Looking at the pic you can clearly see where they are supposed to go to. The bellcranks also have abs sensors on them,.

Hi guys,
My e brake seems to have disconnected somewhere near the cab (in a spot that is not visible for underneath). I can get under the pickup and pull the cable lose (from the housing tube, pulling from the front towards the rear). Does anyone have any suggestions or possible directions to fix the problem. I'm thinking I may have to replace the whole cable, but not positive.

This is on a 95 pickup by the way.

I think that the abs sensor (if he has abs) for a 94 would be on the 3rd member of the rear axle. The sensors were moved to the outside part of axle ~95. It also is possible that Toyota changed the rear abs system sometime during the 94 production year. It was confusing to me when I rebuilt my rear axles and brakes.

He definitely needs all of the bell crank parts, some which are attached to the insides of the backing plate. It's a bunch of parts. The best bet would be to get both complete axles off of a "donor" at a salvage yard for each side. If the salvage yard can get the whole backing plate off that would help, but it isn't a pick and pull. The backing plate is pressed on and held tight with a mo-fo retainer.

IHTH - Mark
