Crank bolt torque specs

I have a 97 t100 and need true torque specs on the crankshaft bolt. Toyota specs say 184 ft lbs but some post say that they changed that due to problems now it's 217 ft lbs. can anyone clarify this?

Its been upped to 217. I just did the t-belt and I slammed the bolt home with a 3/4" impact. No issues.

Not trying to drag this on, but have read to replace with new crank bolt also.

Went to the dealership yesterday to get one and the parts guy told me that was the first time his computer ever looked that part up. So I then spoke to a tech and he said they have never replaced them. So I'm using the same one.

Yet another dealer who does not follow the FSM instruction that the crank bolt is "non-reusable" and "saves" the customer less than $10. Oh well.....

I'm at 229,000 miles and have done mine twice. I just hit it with the 1/2 inch impact wrench and call it good with the original bolt. I've never had a problem.

It was a biatch getting it loose the first time though!
