Hello everyone i have searched the net far and wide looking at other cases where users have encountered the p1300 code. Usually it seems they left a connector unplugged or had a simple issue overlooked. I have gone through the FSM performing each troubleshooting method recommended there. I have changed the ignitor, mass airflow sensor, crank position sensor, cam position sensor, coilpacks, spark plugs (NGK 2 sided electrodes), spark plug wires (NGK). I cant find anything else related to the ignition system to change. according to the FSM the ECU is working within spec. I have gone through all the grounds and reconditioned connectors.

I found i could get the car to run rough, like in an emergency timing mode, if i arc the signalling wire from the coilpack closest to the bumper (coil pack 1) to the signalling wire closest to the firewall (coilpack 3). Im thinking there is some signalling issue based on this. Im not sure what to do to resolve the issue. Does anyone have suggestions?

Maybe it's a fuel system issue, just sayin.

 

I changed fuel filter. Ive heard mention of checking the injectors. Not sure how to do that...

 

Ive got the truck running with the coilpack 1 and coilpack three 12V wires interlinked... It runs really rough and misfires and will not go higher than 5k RPM. I dont think its fuel related because the truck would not be running if it was not getting fuel even if i did this hack ive described. Im thinking the issue is related to signal processing. Processing the signal from ECU, Ignitor, Crankshaft position sensor, or cam shaft position sensor.

Does the throttle position sensor, mass airflow sensor, or any other sensors correspond to the signalling for ignition?

The owner of this truck told me he had already replaced the ECU for this problem previously....

 

Also i should note that i checked the ignitor and ECU signals in accordance with the FSM troubleshooting procedures. Everything was within spec there.

 

what was the verdict on the p1300 code...ECU, Fuel Injectors, unplugged hose, other?

I still have not picked up another ecu. So expensive... in limbo. Will drive in some sort of emergency timing after i crank the starter and allow it to buck a few times. Then it will run with misfires at higher rpms or under torque. This was only possible by arcing the signal wire from the ignitor to coil pack 1 and 3. The 3 and 1 i guess are firing at the same time causing the bucking at first start. Somehow its regulates the misfiring out in some sort of emergency timing mode.

 

was this problem ever fixed? mine died on the freeway coming back from a trip replaced fuel pump and filter checked fuses and im getting a p1300. Truck was running perfect just replaced the spark plugs 100miles ago. truck will start for 1-2seconds its like the computer telling the injectors to shut off. im thinking about getting another icm but there so expensive.

 

in my opinion, i've rarely seen a toyota OEM computer go bad. unless there are external forces that lead to its demise.
if the Igniter has been replaced, i would check the wiring.
try Ohm the wires from the IGN to the ECU. inspect the connector and terminals.
if necessary, build a jumper harness from IGN to ECU to completely bypass.

-Open or short in IGF or IGT circuit from Igniter to ECU
-Igniter
-ECM

Anyone ever figure it out? I replaced knock sensors and valve cover gaskets, and after I put everything back together it's throwing the p1300 code now. I got it to run twice since then but ended up quitting in me and now I cant get it started back up. Starts for a couple seconds then shuts off.

 

This is most commonly caused by a unlugged or faulty ignition coil or coil wiring.
