One last question before i get back to work on it;
Is it better to take the power steering pulley off before going at the crank bolt? And is a puller necessary to get the p/s pulley off?
Thx

I meant the other p/s pulley that is in front of the crank pulley, do i need to take that one off before loosening the crankshaft bolt? I want to make sure i take everything off in the proper order. Thx

Yes, sorry. If I recall correctly there are four bolts around the outside of the crank bolt, take that one off and the one behind it is what I bolted the flat stock to for leverage while I "cranked" on the crank bolt with the breaker bar and a 4' iron pipe "extension". My impact didn't fit in that space... :-(

So i got everything apart except the crankshaft bolt. A friend is coming by tomorrow to help me get it loose....
Problem: i broke/cracked the No. 1 timing belt cover while trying to get crank bolt loose, does anyone know where i can get one online?

Hi, i finally got everything installed and back together and its all good! No leaks! No overheat! Only thing is i have a squeal from one of the belts for about 10 seconds upon startup (it squealed for 30-45 seconds for the first start)...fan/ps belt is pretty tight and the alternator one is slightly loose...any guesses on which one would cause this?
Thanks to everyone that helped me on this site, i couldn't have done it without your help. I live in a rural area and had no access to any other help but this site! It was the first 'major' repair i have undertaken. Many, many, many thanks...i love my Toyota Truck! Im so glad to have it running again!
As i get more experience working on my trucks, i will pay back by contributing to this site, thanks again guys!!!!

Thanks rworegon!!! :-)
Bamzippow: Neither is slick...could that mean the timing belt is squealing? :-(
I cleaned everything with brake cleaner before i put the timing belt on, i sure hope its not that cuz i dont want to get into all that again just yet lol..
When i test drove it, i noticed that if i had the heating fan on the 3rd setting, it squealed from a dead stop....does that say anything? So squealing upon startup and from a dead stop with the fan setting full blast...

Since yer putting a load on the alternator when you put the fan blower on...I would have to guess yer alternator belt is either too loose or it's picked up a shiny spot on it somewhere. How many times has it squealed? Just like tires or anything rubber...if you burn the rubber too many times...it's gonna harden up and shine.
Git a belt tension gauge and tighten the belt to specs...

Crankshaft Pulley Removal
You can get by without a special tool by wrapping a chain around the frame on both sides of the engine. Insert a hi-grade 3/8 bolt through the chain into the pully/harmonic balancer and loosen or tighten, whichever you need. No special tool required.
