4wd light staying on while in 2wd

4wd light staying on while in 2wd
I was using 4Lo to not make any noise getting out of my driveway and noticed that it was quite hard shifting to 2wd after I disengaged 4wd and my light was still on soo and I have a 96 so no obd2 soo I'm at a stand still
