trying to test my Throttle position sensor

(3.0 V6 1991 4x4) ok im testing all my sensors with an ohmmeter to try to diagnos a check engine light that has been shining in my face for about 6 months. tested everything when i came to the throttle body sensor the toyota repair manual says to insert a .020 feeler guage in between throttle screw and lever, connect ohmmeter to terminal IDL and E2 and continuity should b present. correct that is what happened when i did that. next it says insert a .032 feeler guage in between throttle stop and screw and hook up ohmmeter and there should b NO continuity my problem is my truck has continuity same 350 ohms reading as when i inserted .020 feeler guage. is this a faulty T.P.S or is in no big deal. Thanks in advance

Likely a big deal.

I believe the settings for the TPS are based on the points where the TPS should be sending and opened or closed signal to the CPU. Yours is sending the same signal both ways.

4crawler has a pretty good explanation that also holds for our V6s.

That is the setting you must adjust to make the readings follow the test specifications. So you loosen the TPS (on the throttle body) and rotate it relative to the TB such that it displays the proper resistance readings with the throttle closed and slightly open.
