Toyota 3vze 3.0l v6 engine hi-pro 190hp/210ftlbs
Hi All,
Has anyone used one of these remanfuctured engine built in Portland, OR. Selling for $1995 with CORE Exchange...I found this on eBay...???
I am currently pulling my V-6, 3.0L, 3VZE out of my 1991 4Runner. It is still running but getting tired with 280,000 miles. I live and run out of Reno, NV. Moved here from Boise, ID. both areas have great off road to enjoy.
I have three TOYs: 1991 4Runner, 1995 4Runner, 1980 2x4 Pick-Up
All running great and love to go out and play.
Any good advise as to creating extra HP while I have it out.
I have read about everything I can find but wish to gain all the knowledge/advise I can get...
MANY THANKS...Rex M

4.3 swap. Cheaper, more available parts. Just ask fillsrunner4.
Started with a 3.4 then went to a 4.3.

I would be suspicious. Seems too good to be true.
That is more hp than a stock 3.4, likely from the upgraded camshaft. It may make good top end power but still be a dog down low pulling away from a stop light. Ask to see the dyno test printout of it. Then show it to us and let the experts do their thing.
I am no engine builder and do not pretend to be, but this seems pie in the sky.

The Hi Pro 3.0L sounds like a very good solution to the 3.0l power problem, also seems to solve the complications of finding all of the right stuff for a 3.4l swap. I am thinking this may be the way to go. I wonder if anyone has first hand testimonial of the power this engine makes?
Sounds intriguing to me...

i am currently rebuilding a 3.0 and the parts are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination. the stealership wants almost $700 for the oil cooler, and over $200 for a knock sensor. And at $118 per rod, this is getting expensive. Don't know how a company can sell a reman for that much and it be reliable in any form. I just named off $1500 worth of parts. If you go that route, good luck...

I think even if it is not as good as it sounds, there is a 7yr, 70,000mi warranty - You probably would be out a few weekends of labor if the thing turned out to be junk.

[QUOTE=cory8926;51138532]That's a good point... but really 700$ for an oil cooler - I would suggest going else where. I can understand wanting really good quality internals but the knock sensor, oil cooler etc... cant you find them for much less else where?

That's the hard part, and trust me I'm trying. I have yet to find new rods anywhere. Just started a thread about possible bypass of the oil cooler. And who would be out of the weekend labor, me or you? If the reman comes with a warrenty, read the fine print, it may have to be installed by a certified mechanic. Some shops won't work with parts unless the shop buys them. If you try the install yourself, you may void the warrenty, plus be hard pressed to find a shop to install a third party engine.
But this is what makes this site great, everyone can help when it comes to knowledge!

still wandering
new member here, cool forum
Me: 1995 sr5 4-runner 3.0 v6 auto, stock unit.
So I am also concidering buying a hi-po motor from motorcrate this is the info they sent me. Adding a set of downey headers to the mix thinking I should see 200hp when complete. If anybody has ever bought anything from motorcrate how was it? any problems I should know about?
Concidering I am going to be putting the headers on while installing the engine, I should have plenty of room to bolt them on outside the truck and drop them in attached to the engine? should be easier right?

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

i rebuilt my stock 3.0...it's got:
K&N (with crappy dirty K&N filter...)
bored .020 over.
and stock everything else.
it's got 4.56 gears and heavy arse 10ply Toyo M/T's. it's no rocket...but i have to be careful not too speed on the highway, if i dont pay attention i'll find myself going 95mph in a 70mph zone. the 3vz has plenty of power for me, but i have a 5speed.
