Well I hope to mock up by the end of this weekend. I got the motor out of the truck tonight and pulled the valve covers. Im having them cleaned. I also need some new plugs wire and maybe a new cap and rotor. I hope to have the adapters tomorrow or Wednesday. ill get some pics up once I upload them onto the comp.

Should be a pretty fast build. I was looking over the motor a bit while up at my parents house and man is it a simple motor. I should have dropped on of these things in a long time ago I cant wait to get her in and running and I hope to soon. There is a trip to Naches mid August I would love to take it too so my deadline is pretty short.

Ill be sure to keep you all informed on the build progress as it comes in and Ill be sure to get those pics I know you all love

oh dear god and so it begins again... 4.3 vortec is an awesome motor, ive rebuilt two of those engines. less top end power and way less mpg's than the 3.4l but tons and tons of low end torque, dirt cheap and very durable.

shoot me a pm if you run into any other engine performance woes because ive got some experience with these motors as well. Pretty soon here i get to do a buildup thread right along with you as i finaly got my project truck, 1985 4x4 with a 383 up front and just like yours absolutely no front clip or body infront of the cab. already got a TBI unit for it and gettin the exo goin soon

Yeah yeah another portion of the build begins. This motor is going to be alot less headache im sure compared to the nightmares I had with the 3.4 Im excited to see the outcome. If I run into some woes im sure youll be hearing from me.

Cage and font clip soon but first motor

Cant wait to see your build

No no no no. You've got this all wrong.

See, you are supposed to be out here in CO putting that into MY truck....

Sick build as always. I'm going to enjoy watching this as much as I did your first.

Okay, i got it all worked out for you , i get the 3.4 and Axleike gets the 4.3.

Your probably going to want a diesal next week anyways so might as well ship those engines to us now!

In all seriousness, ill will stay tuned for this work of art!

Good luck!

Nice work and long time, no talk!

I see you went to the darkside with the chebby. Welcome to the club. I am still waffling on a motor, although I am cleaning up my 7.4 liter for sale or for fun.

My runner is all setup for a 4.3 liter, which will allow for a radiator and no body lifts. I still may go the small block route depending on what I find.

Anywho, it is looking like you are making progress. Good work!
