Scan Gauge II

Been meaning to post a picture showing how the Scan Gauge can color match the Toyota display





I used the supplied Velcro tape to mount it right on the column where it is easily watched without being a distraction.

i did the scan gauge group buy, no problem's out of mine. And i second the location on where to put the scan guage, right on the steering wheel.

I am hearing from some fairly reliable sources that they are working on a new version with USB output for the purpose of datalogging with a laptop. I currently have an AutoTap for my laptop which can do this, but it would be nice and convenient to do it via the ScanGauge as well. I have seen and played around with the SG on a couple of cars and it is a nice little unit.

Depending on what you need, there are a LOT of OBD II modules around... I agree that the Scan Gauge II is awesome with the display and the built-in functionality like MPG, but if you're only looking for logging, and/or for a faster refresh rate and extra capabilities, then look into this:

I have MANY OBD II boxes - this one is my newest and it's VERY nice. Paul (the designer) didn't use the classic ELM chip, he used a PIC and wrote an ELM emulation mode. As such, he also has a mode that will allow RAW data access to the OBD bus, and the CAN bus. No other box on the market does that - it opens up a LOT of possibilities...

I have the regular Scangauge(I guess it would now be dubbed as Scangauge 1) and it works flawlessly -- I can not say enough about it -- It will monitor pretty much any sensor that the ECM reads. If you want to use the mileage portion make sure you program it to your tank size(duh) --

If you cant picture what mine looks like, it is a box (about 5wx2h) with a cord for obd hookup

I swapped the leds out on one of those for someone once, which was the first one I messed around with. It is a cool little gadget to have, and the new one is great as well.

On programming a PIC to do it.. I have actually thought of doing that, but just dont have the time these days to mess with it. I already have one interface project going that I dont have time to finish... so I figure I shouldnt start another

Yup, I have one. Wouldn't have bought one when I did but got a GREAT deal on it, so I did It really is nice to have, its very accurate on gas mileage and gallons of gas used, etc. It's nice that it is a code reader too, never had to use that part yet. I highly recommend them!

Teotwaki - Those are the same readings I have and the exact same locations haha.

Cohland - You should be able to mess with the color options and have it within a minute close to what you need.
