YA thats the one I was refferring to. Thats a good deal. Altho I dont know that I really need one I think they are a good buy and can be helpfull when needed at the least. Hey anything for my truck is a good buy HEHE.

I actually approved that thread before it was posted.
I typed in "scan" into our wonderful search engine, and it did not turn up.

I miss the old days when search worked great.

I may have to get in on the group buy.

Search on Search, and you will see.

The Search function does not work like it did in the old days.
It does not turn up stuff as easily as it use to.
You have to combine words and phrases together sometimes to get the correct hit.

It has never been the same since we had to rebuild the site several months back.

As far as the SGII.. .download the manual from their site... its a pretty cool toy, and for 130 you cant beat it right now...

Has anybody looked at a way to nicely mount the unit without resorting to the velcro tabs supplied with it?

I've started digging into the manual and found that you can mix and match your own backlight color. I have managed to concoct a blend that is close to the color in the 4Runner. I have also calibrated the speed using my GPS as a reference on a long stretch of flat highway. Next will be calibrating the gas tank readouts that the MPG is based upon.

I was thinking about getting it .Till i seen it only works on 96 an up. I wonder if there is any way to hook up to older than 96 .Like my 89 4runner

Don't know if you found the answer for this one already, but on the 3G, the OBD port is under the steering wheel, around where your right knee would be, IIRC. It's not too hard to find, and the thing is shaped and pinned so things can only plug in one way.

In the owner's manual for my code reader, it stated something to the effect that (this is not verbatim) that the OBDII port on so-equipped cars must be located in a visible location, not more than ?feet from the steering wheel. Following that, with plug in hand on the code reader, I just looked under the dash until I saw a plug of similar size and shape and gave it a try.

HIGHLY doubtful unless you're looking to write code for a PIC or STAMP processor that will collect the data from various sensors on the truck, and spit the data into one of the OBD II protocols.

If you were able to handle that, then you'd be skipping the part were you could plug this in and just display the data on your own.

One thing that would be possible (in theory) is to graft a later-model ECU into your current system. I 'magine that sorting out timing and A/FR signals would be interesting...

4th gen's connector is right near/below the fuse block, left of the steering wheel

Aren't any of the 1GR 4.0 V-6 [4th gens / 05/06 Tacomas / FJ Cruisers] OBD-CAN, not OBD-II?

I have the Blend Mount and it doesnt fit over the mirror si I am trying to modify it to fit under the mirror here is a temporary look until I get more time to do it right
