Rear Window

My rear window on my Runner is not working and I'm needing some help with repairs. First, the manual lock on the interior is stuck between locked and unlocked. I thought this was a little odd. Shouldn't it be one or the other if it's manual. Second, the window is stuck in the closed position and when I try to either push the "UP" button next to the shifter or use the exterior keyed switch I hear a clicking sound coming from the cargo box on the left rear. Is that the relay I'm hearing? How do I remedy this. Thanks in advance.

Spray some silicone spray into the lock button to get it working again. NOT WD40, use a silicone only spray. This should free up the switch. Other common problems are wiper in wrong position, it must be up and out of the way or window will not operate. I disconnented the wiper switch and vola! the window works! Pull the console to get to the switch. Chances are you'll find enough money for lunch. :-)
Another issue could be the switch that tells the electrical system the top is on. It's located behind the side panel in the rear, near the left rear speaker.
While you're back there look for more change under the rear seats.

Yeah, it was the wiper no all the way closed. As soon as I got that figured out the window worked fine. Thanks for all the help. Thank god for YotaTech.

I just had the same issue with my 98 4Runner. After two hours of checking and cleaning the up/down switch and lock switch, I turned my wiper on. It cycled twice and the the window worked again! Check the wiper first.
