Power Door Lock question

I need to replace the power door lock actuator on 97 4Runner drivers door. The old one is worn I guess and just does not lock consistently when you hit the power lock button.
Anyway, does anyone have tips or hints about this operation? I have the door panel off but it's hard to see what goes on in there. Removal and reinstall help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks Mac,

I didn't even think about that. No I'm not sure..is there a way to isolate the cause?
As I start the car the locks are progrmmed to lock...and they always do -each door button always goes down. However, when I stop the car and open the door to get out and hit the "power lock" button...the drivers door usually will not lock...all others will lock. I have to push the drivers door button to lock it manually.

Does that tell you anything or help to isolate the issue.

Thanks in advance for the help!
