Cool LED light install!!!!

My truck is black so I wanted to do red accent lighting on the interior. I ordered red LED's for the dash but those havent come yet. But I found two 12 inch LED strips on ebay for $7 total!! Snagged those up and they arrived a few days ago. Finally had time to install em. Here goes..

This is my first time doing this. I picked up a basic switch from my local hardware store and also bought a cheap extension cord from walmart to use for the power wires. I just cut it open and took what I needed.

Drilled a hole for the switch in the dash.

I was surprised that I didn't make the hole too big or break the plastic here because normally that's how my life tends to go, but success!!

Did all the wiring and soldering, all the while testing to make sure I didn't have any screw ups when I was all done. Once again it worked!! I didn't even electrocute myself! Here is many pix of the finished product.

I hate it when you can see the source of the light. I think it only looks good when you only see the GLOW.

It's wayyyy more red in real life. My camera doesn't do it justice trust me.

Well, thats it! I hope you guys enjoyed the show! I think it looks BA.
I just can't wait for the dash LED's to come in.

I have a full strip under the hood as well. Makes working in the engine bay a lot easier

Nah, I just zip tied a three foot strip up under the hood. Ran the on wire down thru the inside of the hood structure to a positive source.

I did a write-up for my 2nd Gen Taco, but it could easily be used for your truck too!

Logan - did you ground to the hood or run 2 wires back into the engine bay and ground there? With the hinges, I wouldn't think the hood would be a constant, reliable ground?

Your underlights look great BTW.

Thanks ksti! It is pretty easy to wire up LED strips, so the write-up may be overkill, but hopefully it will help somebody.

I like the switch I installed though. It's small and discreet, and really handy if you want to run (2) different sets of LEDs from one switch/power source.
