ipf 968

Hey guys...santa left me a set of ipf 968 lights under the tree this year. Anyone have these lights and if so, did you install the 100W bulbs?

I found this review on TTORA quite helpful:

Just curious if anyone has had issues with the 100W bulbs.

I have a set I had on my previous vehicle and loved them. Didn't put the 100 watt lights in but probably will when I put them on my 4Runner. They got good reviews for a relatively inexpensive light (heard about them at expeditionportal.com)

i put the 100w bulbs in last night....still haven't installed the lights yet. Won't have a chance to until next weekend (unless I get ambitious and do it after work one night).

I've got a pair of 968's, and I installed the 100W bulbs. I figure with 2 lights, why not use the 100W for the best output. If I get two more lights on my light bar, I might downsize to 55 (or not)...

How do you like the 968's so far?

I haven't installed them yet, so I can't say just yet. The wiring harness looks pretty good, but I'm going to modify it a bit. I don't want it hooked up to my hi-beams and I don't want to use their switch as I have my own switch panel. I need to take a pic with everything put back together.

I love seeing pics with the dash all torn apart, and wires going everywhere

I did the same thing. I swapped out the mouse-style switch for an older Toyota fog switch with the orange light, and I wired mine to an ignition-controlled empty slot on my fuse panel. Tapping into the brights made no sense to me....

i'm going to be a tease....mounted and wired them up. I had a bit of difficulty mounting them to the bumper because I couldn't get my hand up there since we mounted my spring hanger so far forward during my SAS, but thankfully my girl's got little hands.

I'm waiting for it to get dark to take some pics for you guys.

I made it....I took the stock pocket from under the dash and mounted some "L" brackets inside it, then mounted some bolts to those to stick out through the plexiglass.

I got the plexiglass from TAP plastics in sacramento....just tell them what size/thickness and the cut it for me. Cost like a buck. I got a couple though, just in case I screwed one up.

Then I just drilled holes for the switches. I use cap nuts on the studs and it gives it a nice clean look.....I'll take some close ups of it installed tonight.

The red switches came from Radioshack, but I have since noticed that you can get them at AutoZone for about half the price (and the AutoZone ones come with a bunch of different colored caps)

I really like these lights....they're about 2x as bright as my brights and really light up the road. It just sucks living in a city since I won't really be able to use them until I go out to the desert next weekend and drive some back roads

pictures look like crap because it was dark in the parking garage...i'll get better ones in the daylight today.
