Illumination does not work on a/c console

Hi All
I am a new member and I have a 1999 4R Limited. I just replaced the bulbs behind the a/c console with factory bulbs because it was not working and they still do not work. The LCD screens works fine and the the bulbs on both sides of the console do function. I have attached a pic to show which area does not illuminate when I turn the lights on. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thank you

that would be the backlighting on the lcd screen itself. my guess is that the led wend bad. if you are a do-it-yourselfer, tear it apart and solder in a new one. if not, either live with it or get a new unit.

(btw- this is assuming it is led backlight. if it's el, then you're gonna have a "fun" time replacing that...)

Thanks for the quick response. Yes the LED does work. When I turn on my headlights at night this area does not illuminate. I replaced the bulbs but it still does not work. Any chance there is a separate fuse or something for the light only.

the lcd screen has it's own, separate, "non-replaceable" led. so how are you sure the led does work?

or am i missing something?

Sorry about that I should have been more clear. I took the unit out to replace the new bulbs and re-installed it to test it out. Since it did not function, I then removed it to see if there was anything i was missing and decided to take a picture.

sooo... the lcd screen was lit up, you removed the unit to replace the other bulbs, and when you put it back in, the lcd screen did not light up. did i get that right?

You are close Thank you. When I bought the 4R last week everything worked except the middle of the a/c LED back lighting did not illuminate when i turned the headlight on. After doing some research most people said the bulbs may have gone out. So i ordered new bulbs from the dealership and put them in. The back-lighting on the center of the LED screen still does not illuminate when i turn the lights on.

this bit had me confused. it's contradictory.

my statement about the led behind the middle lcd screen remains as an option to fix it.
