Ignition lock question

Hello fellow users.

I didn't know where to post this best but I want to ask about a problem with the ignition barrel. The key turns, engine starts, I turn the key to shut down the engine, the key turns to ACC but won't go into the off position. It can only be taken out by disconnecting the battery, as I've noticed. I heard it may be the wear of ignition barrel but I suspect some electrical circuit breaker failure. Can anyone shed some light on this, please? I'd appreciate it.

Thank you.

Odd Problem. Have you tried to use cylinder lock graphite or other lubricant ?

Actually, I haven't. This is its original ignition barrel, so it might be no good. I wonder how much it'd cost to replace it and who does it. Or it might be some electrical problem - not mechanical, definitely. =)

use the graphite as suggested and use some patience--just keep working the key "gently" and i belive you'll have it handled--you may have to put the key in and out while using the graphite, once you get it to that stage, in order to relieve the unit from accessory to off--also if it's an automatic make sure it's fully in park--

sounds like something is broken either on the ignition switch or in the tumbler
click on the second link and look in the steering section they have a break down on the steering column and the ignition switch.
