HVAC light out, but it's not the bulb
Hey all, my HVAC light is out but not because the bulb is dead --also my cigarette lighter doesn't work as I discovered upon trying to charge my phone.
Any ideas where to start?
Thanks!

Maybe just a idea of what model and what year your working on .
Do you mean the light that is part of the dash lights or the light for the AC switch??
The rest of the dash lights work??
Has the switch managed to become unplugged ??
Just what fuse is good?? Is there Power coming into the fuse??
Is it just the light or does the AC also not work
How do you know the bulb is good??

Oh right, guess I forgot to specify those things. I forget I don't have that info listed in my sig or anything.
1987 Pickup SR5
Ya know, the ac doesn't work and the light there doesn't come on even if the button is pushed. I just acquired this pickup a couple weeks ago in a trade and am in the process of tearing the whole thing down to basically restore it.
The little light that illuminates the hvac panel is out and I know the bulb is good because I pulled the good one out of my moped. The clock works, the radio works, and all other dash lights work.
So the hvac, ac button light, and cigarette lighter all don't work. But the fuses that power these things aren't popped.

Might be easier to tell us just what works.
All the other dash lights work??
You have power to the fuses you have checked??
Loose female fuse sockets .
I would say if your doing a full restore get the Toyota Electrical Diagrams manual for the year you have.
A good easy to read Multimeter.
One circuit at a time.
So many clueless people hack and cut wiring on these trucks can be a real nightmare at times.

If it's as simple as a loose connection I'm gonna kick myself haha. Well I may as well tear into the dash as I have to spray the trim parts anyway.
As for the the fuse box and all that, everything has power at the box. So I suspect my issue will be between there and the unit as that's what makes sense. I'll report back with my findings and more questions if things don't go well lol

Well... the whole damn thing was unplugged. Not sure why someone would do that.
Plugged in the cigarette lighter and the connector going to the HVAC and it all works. Seems the AC light is finicky or something and the compressor doesn't have a belt on it. The fun never stops!
