Exclamation Door Windows Locked up!

OK, I have a 94 4Runner I bought to restore & this is driving me nuts. This is my 1st 4Runner, I have restored 2 1992-3 Celicas , & 1 1984 Landcruiser & bought this right before it was to be scrapped to a junkyard!

The PROBLEM now: Door windows are locked in the up position! I have changed all the switches to all the doors including the master one at the drivers side door. The Sunroof works as well as the rear window with no problem.

QUESTION: Does the Power Relay Control all the windows? (It's $500+ at Autozone so I'll look at Junkyard probably) Now, I have power to all the window switches. If this was the problem would I still have power to these possibly?

I'll keep everyone informed if I fix this!
Any idea's on fixing this, perhaps something I've missed would be very appreciated.

THIS HAS BEEN FIXED!!!! (PLEASE SEE my Last Post on this thread!) APPRECIATE ALL THE HELP!!!
Thanx for reading Everyone!

You have checked that the window motors do work??

Do you have a copy of the EWD for your 94 4Runner??

Wires broke where they come out of the drivers door into the cab are quite common.

Could be any number of things keeping them from working

Appreciate the reply & help- Currently got a couple windows relays to try, their $599 at Autozones Website so I thought Id try the "Murphys Law" theory right off the bat- Picked them up at a junk yard for cheap- If it dont work Im shooting for the wiring itself so thanx. Keep you informed of the progress!! Thanx again!

Yes much better to just install parts of unknown quality then troubleshoot the real problem

$600? It would cost less to buy new manual regulators and have new universal power window motors installed.

And even less to crank them up yourself. I don't like power windows in a truck if i can reach the other side to roll it myself. Good luck with that, hope you get an easy fix with a relay swap but that's a real long shot.

i paid $400 for my entire 94 4Runner with working stuff.

I would have looked at the wiring 1st and busted out the digital multimeter and test light.

if you can trace lines here is the wiring diagrams and stuff to do it right

Well, all the switches are getting power so what else could it be to affect all the door windows besides a the Window relay? I seriously doubt its the motors in 4 doors considering the odds of all 4 being burnt out.

As far as the old ass parts from the Junk yards goes, theirs some great deals if your looking at restoring vehicles & I'm not going to throw down $600 for a window relay when I only paid $500 for the car at this point. Relays cost me $7, the 2 I got were pulled off, came off pretty nice 4runners that just had been wrecked. With car's being 20+ years old don't disregard the value of Junk Yards!!

Thanx so much for the Links "Dropzone", very appreciated! Unfortunately most of the wiring diagram links are dead when I tried but I'll try again later. All the same, your a champion for taking the time to really help me here.)

TJ, I have thought of the idea of manual windows (my 84 Landcruiser has these), I have a couple Celicas that both have electric & havent had any problems except with an AllTrack I had a motor go out once. I was wondering if someone possibly new of somewhere that had part's to convert (Just a Thought). Appreciate the idea all the same my friend & so far its a possibility.

Thanx again for the links & help Everyone! Going to change the Relay & see where that gets me today!

Love this site, I usually dont have troubles that I cant fix but I do LOVE this site. I'm looking forward to being a Helping member since I do love Toyotas!

Thumbs up Fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, the Relay didnt work, although it did fix the window so it can be rolled down from the front instead of the key!

I started going through the wires (like a zillion from the Drv. Door, Low & Behold, one was broken in half where it comes from the door into the front of the body!

Fixing it & re-fishing it through that little rubber piece sure was fun!! I ended up taping it onto a loop end on a piece of sturdy wire. Very odd the wire breaking right inside that rubber piece going through to the door I thought!

Anyhow, I suck suck at Multimeters so I guess I better try to sharpen my skills in this dept.

I really appreciate everyones help on this & just thought I'd give an update! Thanx so much to everyone again!!

Glad you got it fixed!!

The Multimeter is a good tool once you learn how to use it .

You will wonder how you got along all these years without using them.
