Problem!!!!!

I have a 87 4x4 pick up 22rte 5 speed. Last couple times I ran the truck those 3 lights (charge, Brake and turbo light) come on when I give it throttle (parked or driving) it doesn’t effect the running of the truck just rather annoying. Any thoughts? Bad ground somewhere? Regulator and or alternator going south?

You have the green light because you have boost

The charge light and brake light because you have a charging system issue .

Either under or over charging .

Time to break out the meter see what voltages your getting.

Go from there

Yeah you can pretty safely ignore that bit. The TIL (turbo indicator light/lamp) is triggered by the ECU when it senses the RPM is in a range the factory turbo reaches some unknown boost, it's a preset based on rpms only there is no sensor attached for this. Far as I know the sensor was only put in with digital dashes, and there isn't any interconnect between dash and ECU.

Fixed it, bad voltage regulator on the alternator, the turbo light on the dash is just tied into those lights all three would come on at the same time, but it’s all fixed now

same with the 3.4?

Does anyone know if this would also be true for the 5vze engines? I finished my 3.4 swap into a 93 Pickup a few months back, everything seemed fine electrical wise. Then about a week ago I started getting issues with the parking brake and battery symbol dash lights. At first they would illuminate when I pushed the brake pedal. Then they would also illuminate in time with the turn signal flasher. Then, when I put the blower fan on high. Seems to be a growing list of triggers...
I'm glad I found this post because it hadn't occurred to me that it was due to a load on the electrical system. I guess I should check the voltage coming out of the alternator? Could a failing battery even be the cause?

Auto Electrical is pretty much all the same

Might be any of those things you mentioned .

Start and check your voltages

Could be as simple as a loose belt loose ground connection

Might be the cable to the fuse block from your battery relocation

Another place to look is how the charging harness is hooked up

The vehicle voltage is dropping below the trip point
