Alternator question.

SO after a measly 250K my stock Alt. has finnaly given up the ghost... SO the question is what do I get to replace it??? I hear that there are some p-rated/higher output units to be had but I'm having trouble locating the nessescarry info on them. You know Parts numbers, sources...

Idealy I WON"T have to go to Pep-Boys and get a replacement as I'm sure they're just not as good as the Nippon-Denso Toyota Part... but alas I have no info!!!!!

Any help and suggestion would be greatly welcomed.

Cheers

Dave King

i recommend looking in your local yellow pages for a REBUILDER. bring it to them, they'll clean it up, check it out, replace the wear items, and have you back in action in no time.

the quality of rebuilt parts from auto stores has gone so far down in the crapper, i'll never buy one "new in a box" again. they last a year if you're lucky. i had one done for an Audi TT a couple mos. ago, $80 and one day turnover.

I also like the idea of having the stock alt "tweaked" by Boyle Future Tech

I put an LCE high output alternator in mine. It works great on the up but for things like my winch it doesn't do jack squat.
