(I had to file the LED board very slightly to get the bulb all the way in the socket. And the polarity was reversed, rather than cut and splice the wires, I disconnected the socket, removed the black wire connector lock, used a pick to release each terminal and swapped sides in the connector housing)
Dome Light - I had no luck finding a 25mm festoon bulb. I have an overhead shelf so it wouldn't be much use anyway. The shelf has a 1" hole on each end, so I'm putting these in and wiring it to the existing dome light. https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...ure/1536/3460/
One problem... When I step on the brakes the parking lights and instrument panel lights come on slightly dim. I've checked the brake lamp sockets for a short between terminals, it's OK. When I replace either side brake lamp with a standard bulb, it doesn't do this. I don't hear the parking light relay clicking when stepping on the brakes, so it must be feedback voltage through the LED bulbs. Perhaps a different LED bulb may fix this, or adding a diode to each rear light assembly.
I also did the Hella headlamp conversion along with the wiring harness/relay upgrade, best headlamps I've ever had on this truck since I bought it new in 1992.

Reason: Cleanup
Since electronics is a hobby of mine, I had plenty of diodes in my stock of parts. I put a 1N5822 diode in each tail light assembly on the parking light wire. The diode is good up to 40 volts and 3 amps so I should never have a problem with it. Parking/Instrument lights no longer come on with the brake lights. Problem solved, everything works.
OK WELL now I know what to do with my tach. I never bought one because I could never decide where to put the thing. Not to steal your idea but that looks clean!
I did have to slightly dremel the support area behind the dash panel, but not so much as it would weaken the structure. You're also not going to get anything larger than a 2" diameter gauge in there.
It's about to hit 68,000 original owner miles. Original clutch, rear brakes, but I did have to replace the valve cover gasket when I did the 60k service.
