Hi there new to the site!! had one big question... So i got a new rear liftgate for my 1990 4runner due to mine not rolling down anymore. the one i purchased was from another year but still a second gen. my issue is that the wiring harness connector is not the same. i realize i can just cut them and attatch them where they need to go but i have no clue what powers what in there.. any suggestions any diagrams will help thank you

Not sure I ever saw a lift gate on a 4Runner are you talking about the rear hatch??

Can you not remove the plug from your hatch and install it on the new one by taking it apart and repining the plug.

Just what year is the replacement hatch?? Need to know to find the schematics .

Your other recourse is break out the multimeter figure out what all the wires are for one at a time.

Toyota is known for changing wire colors and connectors between years.

I don't know what year just yet... What exactly am I looking for when testing this multimeter and how do I do it?

Another option is to remove the wiring harness from your hatch that no longer works.
