Thoughts on my alarm?

I read all the posts that I could locate regarding how to disable a faulty alarm. I have a 1992 toyota 4wd sr5 pickup. My alarm system (TDS) has begun to flake out. I located what I think is the brain of the system. It is a rectangular box located under the steering column. There are 4 wires that enter the box on one end. There is also a "screw" style adjustment (for sensitivity, I presume) and a very small red light on one of the longer sides. I would like to remove this system until I can get another installed. All of the posts I have seen talk about 2 wires, but as I mentioned, there's four wires on this one. Any ideas?

Is there a replacement that would wire right in there?

Thanks,

JG

most alarms will have more than 4 wires, it sounds like you may have found the impact sensor for the alarm. follow those wires farther in and they should plug into the actual alarm.
