95 is the last model year in the US. The Tacoma started in 95.5 with the 2.4l and 2.7l 4-cyl. In 96 the 3rd Generation of the 4Runner came out, having the 2.7L 4-cyl. Both 4Runner and Tacoma also had the 3.4L V6.

correct me if i'm wrong, but i dont think they put the 22re in the last year of the second gens (95). I thought 1994 was the last year of the 22re in 4runners

Are you saying that the 95 4Runners were only available with the 3.0? If so, that's interesting, especially since the 4Runner had a 4-cyl available the next year.

Wouldn't that be the 2.7 liter 3RZE engine? There were no 22RE's in 1996 that I know of.

96+ 4Runners had the 3rze engine. 4Runners had the 3rze and 5vze. 95.5+ Tacomas had the 2rze, 3rze, and 5vze.

Other than that, I don't know if anything weird happened in 95 with the 4Runners.

I know that in the last year of the 3rd gen 4runners (2002) they ixned the 4 cylinder (in this case the 2.7 3rzfe) for that year and only offered it with the 3.4 V6.
But I've never heard that about the 22res. I could be wrong, but I thought (could be wrong) I saw a few buysell adds online for my area that had a few 22RE 95 pickups and even the odd 95 4runner.

ok this is making sense now cause i was just a little confused. If the 22re had only a 4cyl. engine what was the litre size of that engine? was there an option between 2.4l and 2.7l?
