Whats going to happen to all the 3.4's

What is going to hapen to all the 3.4's and other parts of the thousands of taco's in the frame recall. It would be a shame to see them crushed.

Sadly it looks like they are getting crushed. Toyota doesn't want any parts taken off after they buy them back. What a waste

Frame recall? Remember similar in Nissan Navara few years ago. They were recalled because of a frame fault and airbag ignition problem, the airbag computer was reprogramed but no one cared 'bout the frame.

What's so serious 'bout the taco's frame? Don't they eventually break like everything else in 'yotas..

Well at least Toyota is standing behind their failure, unlike Nissan. Actually to be fair the failure was in choosing an American company to build the Taco frames and then trusting that company to properly rust proof it.

Toyota is standing behind the product but screwing the other taco or potential 3.4 owners!!! This is a sad time.

What's "so serious" is the frames were built by Dana, an American Company, and not by Toyota. You will note that Dana makes frame and axles for Jeeps, Chryslers, Dodges and I think some GM products. 4Runners are built in Japan and thus have Toyota frames not affected by the recall.

Was the supercharger available on the Tacoma? Would be a crying shame if they were, and then crushed.

Sure...a TRD supercharger is avalable for most Tacomas. Most guys are stripping off any expensive add ons before selling it back to Toyota. Since the SCer is one of the more expensive add-ons you can get and easily swapable I doubt any have been crushed. Most are taking off good tires and nice wheels and replacing with junkyard wheels and tires and removing stereos. Some are taking off bumpers, tailgates, exhaust systems, cats, swapping good parts for junk...etc....

The local dealer ship is preety much letting anybody take what they want from there lot of recalled taco's. I know 3 or 4 people that have take stuff off them. Dude at the local 4x4 shop is the one who turned me on to this. Maybe if you guys ask around you can find a dealer around you doin this.

I bet everything off those trucks will be scavenged by Toyota employees.

What exactly is being done with them after the dealer buys them? Do they cut them up and send them to the crusher/recycler right there at the dealer? If so, I guarantee the Toyota employees are getting tons of free parts.
