what's a 85 front axle worth?

Hey guys, I might be getting a 85' solid axle and putting it up for sale. What's a fair price for one of these? I don't know the mileage and I'm guessing its in "normal" condition for a 21 year old axle.

It all depends where you are.

For example late 80's Dana 44 Wagoneer

Arizona $550.00

Tennessee $50.00

Toyota axles go for $450 in the yards here and $300 on the person to person market. Complete, hub to hub with a third and brakes and steering.

Same with California. I can get one easily for $300-400, but I'd have to wait for a deal to come around to get one for $200 or less.

Of course, I picked up mine for $170.

On those trucks it will be done before he can post about it. You can weld everything in place even before you unbolt anything. This is full front hanger system and full rear leaf hanger system.

86-95 is incredably easy to swap. I charge people around $300 for the welding/plasma and send them home to finish it, it's all cut and bolt on after that.

3rd Gen 4Runner is another story, but has better motors and other things.

Maybe...

I have an axle and nothing more. Still not sure if I'm going to do it.

x 2 - having the axle means your semi serious about it. He'll be closer when:

a. He's done with rebuilding the axle, regearing/ARB in the 3rd.
b. He has bought his high steer, springs and all the other parts needed to make it happen.
c. His IFS stuff is on the floor and sparks are flying.

I know this because I've had an 85 axle in my garage for about a year and a half collecting dust (at least it isn't out in the elements rusting more...)

HAHA! I have the option of picking one up for 200 bucks. I just might pick it up and hang onto it possibly considering a sas down the road. Who knows!

I've found a few places around here that claims to have one. The local Pull-A-Part (or whatever its called) had one hub to hub for $150. Another place had it for $300 allready pulled off the truck.
