When I first saw the 1st gen 4Runner in a Car & Driver mag, I promised myself that I'm gonna buy myself a 4Runner someday.

My Dream has come into reality. I drive a KZN185W Hilux Surf (3rd gen). As the Toyota slogan in Japan says : Drive Your Dreams.

Nice truck... you're one of the first I've seen with the factory guard like mine along with some hella lights hooked up to the guard. You might wanna look at some whiter bulbs for the headlights, I put silverstars on and it contrasts really well (the white light) with the brush guard. Nice pic.

1st gen overall - most truck like of them all - 2nd gen a close second, followed by the 3rd.......the 4th gen resides in some trans-dimensional void of weirdness. Like someone mentioned before, if they could put 4th gen technology in a 1st gen package it would be unreal.

The removeable top wins for me. Features left out, the 1st gen is coolest.

Strap a couple of jump seats in the bed and you've got one badass Brat. I like it.

Wow, you knew 20 years ago what the 4th gen was going to look like and waited all that time for it?...

Riiiiiiiiight. Like the 4th gen hasn't been trashed in this thread. Check out these quotes...
"3rd all the way!!! nice look nice ride and no so plastic look like the 4th"
and..
"the 4th gen resides in some trans-dimensional void of weirdness".

I'm just giving back a little.

How 'bout this one has anyone mentioned this yet:

If I wanted a Jeep Grand Cherokee, I would have bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee! That's what I think the 4th gens look like.

I like the style and look of the 2nd gen, i HATE the rear gate setup. i'd say 3rd gen or 1st. 1st gen cause its a real truck and the top comes off. 3rd cause of the style and improovements on the 2nd gen platform, rear gate engine etc...

I own a 1st Gen but I voted 3rd Gen. I just can't give up the convertable. If the third Gen came with a removeable top, I would own a 3rd gen.

Anyone got a photo of the two door 3rd Gen?

I voted 3rd, but I'm the pickup type...

My vote is for the 3rd gen. However, I wish the 3rd gen had a tailgate instead of the huge lift gate. I love the design of the 1st gen though.

Funny thing is, I've had both a 1st, 2nd and now a 4th but I voted for the 3rd I fell in love with the White and Silver Limited 3rd Gens and have never looked back, out of all the 4Runners, this one is my wifes, the other two had SAS on them and got the crap beat out of them, this one is my wifes, I will probably buy a limited 3rd gen when I get back to the states and SAS it out, btu I couldn't stand to beat the crap out of it.

Funny stuff, I guess the grass is always greeener on the other side, I vote for the one style I didn't have

I like the 1st gens the most, both for functionality and style. But i think the 2 door 2nd gens had the best looks, ive always wanted to buy one and cut the roof off and run a soft top. That would be sweet.
