Water Logged Help

Was Wheeling Tonight at My Local Trails and Submerged my 4Runner in About 3 Feet of Water I managed to Get the Truck Back to The Middle of the Creek Where it is a Little More Shallow. But, My Exhaust is Still a Foot Underwater and the Truck Won't Start. Can't Get any Recovery Until Tomorrow I hope it Does'nt Rain Tonight or My 4Runner will be Washed Down The River. What Should I do When I get The Truck Out of The Water and Up onto the Land. My Friend Says a Snorkel Would have Prevented This

Is it Possible the Truck Will Start When I Get the Exhaust Out of the Water? The Intake is Above Water and I Thought That is What's Most Important?

dont try to start it. Get it to dry land and pull the plugs..make sure there is no water in it. Also, there might be a risk of an electrical fire?

You need to winch it out ASAP. You'll have to drain the front & rear diffs & refill, and also grease the entire drivetrain & suspension liberally to push any water out.

In an emergency, you can remove the spark plugs, put it in 4 wheel low, and run the starter in gear until you "start" it out of the creek. Afterward, turn the engine over until you've pumped any water out, reinstall the plugs and dry out the ignition system if necessary, then give it a try again.

if/when you do manage to get it out check the air filter. if its wet you may have water in the engine. Both axles need to be checked, and will probably be full of water.

once a automatic tranny get water itn it ,it starts screwing up the clutches ,plus you will never get all teh contaminated trans fluid out of it unless you take the tranny out and toattly tear it down and get a new convertor.

Sounds no good to me. We have a gnarly creek here, and I dont think anyone ever corsses it anymore, a guy came through with his 44's, and dug it out nice and deep, and now nobody crosses it, I have seen a chevy and two yotas jump it though...one even survived the landing...good luck with the runner, keep us posted.

Yea, thats the thing that alot of people don't get. If the exaust pipe is totally submerged it will create alot of pressure and cause you to loose most, if not all of your power/momentum.

As far as after you get it out...i would drag it back home and do all the aforementioned stuff...I would actually drain everything but don't even turn the key till it's had time for all the wires and stuff to dry.
