Yep...its a converted truck ha. The 4runner tops are the exact size as the bed, looks like he fabbed a lift window for the back. Ask for some pics of the back seat and cargo area, it would be interesting to see what it looks like

I agree, looks like a clean job inside and out. I would look at the master cylinder though, it looks like its been leaking.

he did a good job with the conversion too, he could have easily past that on as a 4runner to someone that didnt know better!

anyone know of any other threads showing this kind of project? I've heard of other people doing it, but never actually seen one that looks this good. I'm very interested.

Just goes to show, people who drive 4runners are glad that they do, and people that don't drive 4runners wish they did.

Depending the year of the truck in the early 80's there was a company that made what was referred to as the Wolverine package that was available from some Northwest Toyota dealers. You selected your new Toyota truck from the dealer adding what ever options you wanted on the truck from the factory, color, wheels, Power what ever. Then the buy sheet was sent to the Portland Port of Entry and the truck was pulled form stock there and sent to Winnebago in Oregon. They did the complete conversion of the truck into what would look just like what we know as a first gen 4runner. If memory serves correctly 1984 was the last year this was offered as Toyota picked up on this and started making then from the facotry in Japan. It might be a Wolverine (can't tell as I can't get any of the pictures to come up and the CL ad is gone)

I have seen a canopy for a toyota pickup that was made to look like a 4runner top. It was not a conversion it was a canopy. Also I think its on seattle craigslist right now but its a 1st gen 2wd 4runner. I have seen a couple of these around over the years they did make them.
