tranny problem

My 5 spd tranny is shifting harder than it used to. It goes into gear really hard. Mainly in 2nd and 3rd gear. Every once in a while it will grind when shifting. I'm thinking warn syncros, but I don't know a whole lot about transmissions. Any ideas?

Maybe synchro's. I've seen trucks (mostly Jeeps) that are harder to shift as the temp. drops. The gear oil gets thicker with a drop in temperature.

If you touch first, then it goes into second easy, or if you touch 4th then it goes into 3rd easy, I would suspect synchros

Probably is the synchros. Gear oil should only be a problem if you see BIG temperature swings. Nonetheless you should double check that you are topped off and try replacing the fluid. If you see a lot of brass when you replace the fluid it is deffinatly the synchros.
