Tow Strap

I have the Expeditionware Recovery Strap (EW3) at https://www.expeditionexchange.com/straps/ which is a 2" wide strap. However, they do have a 3" heavy duty strap as well.

im using marine tie down 4 inch dia.rope.believe it or not its almost like using a bungee.u get to the end and it recoils for an extra pull.it takes up a little room but ive stopped breaking like i did with straps and chain.

I found a power co. pole dragging/lifting strap with a killer load rating laying in an easement during the Katrina rebuild work I was doing but I prefer chains for towing, just slap a section of pipe between the vehicles & have at it.

I have used an ARB snatch strap for years...I also have a couple shorter regular straps.

I have got assorted straps. My ARB strap is great but new it is very pricey. From going on some organized club runs I would suggest getting a strap with looped ends. Some clubs don't allow the use of chains or the cheapy straps with hooks on the end. Try to get something rated several times the weight of your vehicle. Having a longer and shorter strap makes different recoveries easier...
The strap that mudpigg mentioned sounds like a decent deal...
oh yeah, get yourself a good clevis/shackle/d-ring too
If you have to use a chain--open your hood, might save a windshield and other personal bodily harm

After the weak link was established he went tearing out of there at a high gallop with me trailing behind, no brakes, no seat, vice grips on the steering shaft & only a cinder block to sit on. I finally got a break when he took an off ramp & one of the front wheels fell off. I got out & told him "good luck man, I'll just walk over to Wiggys place (a friend) & get a ride back from him"
So yeah, it's kind of a two way street LOL

We used a strap to try and pull my truck out of where i rolled it. Wal-mart brand rated at like 28k lbs. Broke it. Hooked up some misc. chains we had at home, yanked it right out. I carry both with me, as dragging a tow strap in rocks/dirt/trees cuts and tears it and weakens it.

I carry at least 2 straps plus a tree saver. I also carry chains, they have their place if used correctly.
I like having multiple straps for a few reasons.
1. They break.
2. Sometimes you need a longer strap so you can connect them. Say pulling someone out from dry/solid ground. And solid ground is 100+ feet away. That was not fun but necessary.
The second strap I carry is a new one that I don't use unless I need to combine them. That way the old one gets beat up first. I have also tied the 2 broken ends together before out of necessity, that works ok in a pinch. A simple knot will hold once the weight of the vehicle pulls it tight
