and if you dont like the job you did you can peel it off then use CRC brakeclean to remove the glue worked great for me also have alot of clean rags around.

 

He mentioned a kit from autozone or pepboys. I believe he is talking about his truck.

 

Sorry guys for the confussion, Im wanting to tint my windows on my truck.

 

I tinted all the windows on my truck back when I was in High School. The first pass was a miserable failure, and everything either wrinkled or bubbled up, or I trimmed the film too small.

Second pass came out 100x better, and looked great for a couple years. Then all except two of my windows got broke, and I haven't tinted them since. The window that still have tint on them look great, and it's been 5 years now.

 

I've tinted windows that were fairly flat on several cars without any problem. As has been stated before, clean them well and take your time and you should be able to wind up with a result that's as good as the pros for a lot less money. If you have curved glass or a hard to get to area, spend the money and have a professional do the work.

I would try it yourself, if it doesn't work just take it to a pro, at least you tried. And if it does work, you probably saved a lot of money doing if yourself.


On another note, I know this thread was about car windows but, if your windows ON YOUR HOUSE still have a warranty on them (new house, or new windows) DO NOT get them tinted. Our neighbor tinted all his windows on the house, a window cracked because it was originally installed improperly. The window manufacturer/home builder would not cover it because they had been tinted

 

Well Guys the pros win, I got the driver side perfect, on my second try, it takes a lot of patience but did it look good! BUt then I messed up on the rear window bad and I already spent about 30 bucks in tint already so I figured that, by the time I stop messing up I'll hit about 70 dollars, so I said screw because I dont have the time considering Im going on a long trip sonn and need it done fast, I can get it done for about 80 buck where I live at this shop so I would suggest praticing on a wind with tint that suck real bad before trying this, but the driver side did look good, how much has a professional tint your car for?
