t100 upgrade thread

so i myself have a t100. dun dun dun, redheaded step child of the toyota world. a midsized truck with a smaller trucks engine in my opinion, and a limited aftermarket support. i wanna get everyone together who has these cool know-how tricks of finding cheap parts for these trucks. or what lifts you can get for these that will fit ect.. ect..

so far im running a 1995 t100 3.4L (auto tranny) with 35inx12.5inR15 bf goodrich all terrain t/ko,
-no intake, because the intake i found is 350$ from k/n
-1.5in bj spacers (trimming that suspension scared me...)
-3in rear blocks
-custom cat-back exhaust i do custom jobs, but rarely..
-8ft x-treme lined bed, (for you fellow navy folk its pretty much a step down from non-skid)
-about to do a disc brake swap in the back and get rid of those lousy drums..
-and looking for a set of decently priced aisin hubs

but again... its still a t100

-future jobs, 3rz swap or 2jz swap. i like the idea of mechanical injectors for emp proof motors, and i can turbo it and not have to worry about the stupid ecm.

Lots of stuff you can still do. You just have to figure out stuff like leaf springs yourself or have them built. Pro comp and other lift kits for the 86-95 truck and 4runner will fit it if you order the t100 specific parts like the diff drop bracket.

Also Blazland LT and total chaos LT. Lots of stuff out there still. Just no bolt in leafs or many bumpers or rock sliders etc. (Stubbswelding has sliders)

It can be underpowered but go drive a 5k pound 22re truck and you will be happy plus they can tow.

Who has a brake upgrade kit? I need to ditch the drums as well.

I think your bein a little unfair here lol. Yes the T100 is a little bit of a off the beaten path truck, but zpd and I have both been running them fora while. You just have to get creative, which makes it fun.

Check out our build threads if you wat some ideas.

I just read a little closer...

Why swap a 3.4 for a 3rz?

^-- Yea I mean the 5VZE is a pretty peppy engine for that truck.

I wanna say that the market calls the T-100 an "Intermediate" Size Truck.

Lol technically, it was toyota's offering as, "full size" truck

Until of course they threw out the tundra...

Plus, I love mine. Especially since I supercharged it lol

this doesnt make any sense. the 3rz and 2jz both have electric fuel injectors and both have ecms.

This^^

Besides, even if "emp bursts" knocked out your electrical system, being mechanically injected won't save you.

Also, what sense does it make to step DOWN to a 3RZ? You think your T100 is underpowered now, try putting a smaller motor in it.

3rz has bolt on turbo kits. thats my only reasoning, and the lexus 4cyl diesel has no ecm, and its a turbo diesel, it was a stab at humor on my half. and the 2jz-gte would take my truck from the light duty off road to a strickly street truck... if i do it the way id want to.. im torn about what to do with this.. my 1994 pickup dlx had a huge aftermarket support. the t100 has soo much potential but little aftermarket avaliabilities. and i move around alot (navy) so no real way of setting up a legit shop like i have back home.. and i was at one point considering a 1uz or 2uz swap.. but the tundra has a worse support then these haha. and i would love to do the trd s/c but im a 1995 not a 97.. and i dont want to splice a 97 ecm in with mine..

i dont know all the specifics of the 3.4s and what the years have to do with why you would need to do a ecm swap... but you're saying rather then bolt on a TRD SC and accessories and do an ecm swap, you would rather lose 2 cyls and do a complete swap to a 3rz to be able to bolt on a turbo kit and then still have to do an ecm/harness swap, motor mounts, exhaust, and all the other plumbing for the swap? i think you might be going about this the wrong way...

Toyota actually recommends you not supercharge 95 and 96 3.4 powered trucks because the ECM can't refresh fast enough to maintain proper fueling .

You can swap in a later ECM I think.

Honestly if your gonna swap an engine in dont bother with turbos and whatnot, just throw a chevy 350 in and be done. Swaps been done a zillion times and there it will bolt right up.

Why not? More power, simple engine and they already have a large aftermarket. Not to mention the adapters already exist to mate it to the trans.

Easier said than done. ECMs and harnesses have minor differences. You would have to swap the ECM and harness. Not impossible, but not as easy as you are thinking.
