So I've spent the last week or so on Maui and...
....holy cow, there are a TON of Toyota trucks here!! It's like they are the state truck or something
This is my third trip to Maui in the last 5 years and maybe I just didn't notice it earlier.
I've seen 5 first gen 4runners, 4 first gen pickups, about 20 second gen pickups and tons of Tacomas with 6-8 inch lifts.
Also, seems every truck is lifted here...and many sporting SUPER wide tires that stick out about 4-6 inches from the fenders....what's the idea there?
Anyway, as much as I love Toyotas, it's great to see so many, lifted, old Yotas around here
Is it a Maui thing? Hawaii thing?

well, I've been driving and not snapping photos, but they look like this:

It's interesting, the comment about the big tires and lifts serving no purpose....aside from the rutty side roads here and there, the main highway circles the shore, and speeds don't get over 55 - it's mostly about 40 MPH with twisties, two lane traffic, etc....so "cruising" seems to be the main thing to do around here, unless you are going offroad
will try to get (real) pics, but no guarantees.
Any locals here who can weigh in?
