Single cab storage options

As I have restored my 1992 pickup to a drivable state, I have noticed the lack of storage options for everyday use. What have you all done? There are to main areas of concern...

1. When off road (including my 4 mile long driveway) any loose articles left on the passenger side of the bench seat get tossed around, move over toward me, or fall of the floor.

2. When the wife and I ride together, she brings... things. I call her the "bag lady" because she always has at least two reusable shopping bags of stuff with her. Where does that go?

For #1, I am thinking of a bag of some sort slung over the bench seat back. Maps, wallet, keys, camera can all go in something like that.

For #2, a couple action packets secured in the bed sound like a fine idea. They are removable for when I put the motorcycle, 4-wheeler, or a load of manure in the bed.

I toss my backpack with computer and such behind the seat but it is obviously inaccessible while driving.

You all have any ideas/practices?

For #1, I do the bag over the seat-back thing. Only exception is food. When I'm alone, and get take-out (what else is there nowadays?), I put it on the passenger side, with the little center seat down, and fasten the seat belt around it. Holds it great.

For #2, I put ice chests in the bed and strap them down with cargo straps. An Ice chest can hold a lot. Easy to pull the straps, and pull the chests right out. Keeps food from the store nice and cool/cold when we go shopping, too.

Have fun!

Something like this?

Rear window molle panel:

Tactical seat back organizer:

A bag like this for the bench?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-trunk...-/263922078074

Tool box in the bed.

Hard lid tonneau cover.

Thanks guys. I like the seat back organizer. Just have to flip it around to be a seat front organizer. When I have a passenger, I think I'd need a small version for the seat center area. It would also have to secure a different way since there is no headrest in the center of the bench seat. I may just get some webbing and sew my own.

Tonneau cover is a bit expensive for what I think I need. It would be nice but I don't think I need it. I'll probably stick with the ice chest/action packer idea. Tool box isn't bad except it's less mobile. I need to get some more bolt-in tie-downs fo the bed. Molle panel would be nice but it's too close to the back of my head to be safe/comfortable.

I'll post some photos when I get it figured out. Now... how do I secure my coffee? The factory cup holder is not satisfactory for American coffee containers.

This concept may also work on your truck. I like to put what I already have to better use, so I turned boy cavity into Mary Poppins' magic bag

Side body cavity is in-process right now.

Unfortunately I don't have any empty body panels. The best I have is a few inches under the seat and a maybe nine inches behind the seat. Good places for things like a tow strap, jumper cables, and some tools. Not much else.

I'm not complaining, just trying to get ideas. I know I own a truck (two actually). If I wanted lots of inside storage I should have acquired a 4-runner. Just trying to stay organized. I am used to the Tacomaworld.com hatred where people are bashed for almost anything and told they should have bought a Ridgeline if they say anything outside of the typical "Toyota is great and Overland is life."

Back when my brother owned this truck in high school, he had one of those center console replacements like this:

Looking for a little more usefulness/class/security of movement. Molle panel on rear bulkhead and seat organizer are sounding good.

Here we go:

Amazon Amazon

Then I can flop it around when I have a passenger. Atlas, folding trail maps, coffee/water, wallet, keys, flashlight. Seems just right and good reviews on its quality.

Then a bolt-on molle panel behind the seat for the AR-15... err.... other bags/storage.

Looks good in the work truck...

Seems really sturdy. The side pouches are big enough for a Nalgene. It will be in the pickup tonight.

That bag perfect, I'm going to buy the same type.
It looks slightly different to the one in the link you posted before:
Amazon Amazon
Is that correct?

It is identical. Without the pouches expanded, I can see how it appears different. It would be too wide to sit between two passengers in the front seat but it fits just fine behind the bench if you have someone riding along. No regrets in the purchase.

When playing in my backyard, they are very useful. I have the Utah Gazeteer as well as several local maps of off road trails, topography, etc. I'm not interested in downloading lots of digital maps. What you don't see is the small compass stashed in there with the maps.

Is the seat able to go all the way back with this bag slung around the back when having a passenger?? I have to have my seat all the way back and even that’s not really enough when wearing my work boots I need all the room I can get. As of now I’m using the front seat and floor plus have a nice truck box in the bed to put things as well. But this bag would definitely be nice to add.

I checked this morning and yes, you can scoot the seat all the way back and the bag still fits back there. I had to lengthen the strap it hangs on just a little so it drops below the bumper on the top of the seat back.

I would like a toolbox style storage option but... sometimes I load a motorcycle back there and need the whole length. I picked up two action packers and put a bungie cord across the front of them and the snuggle up to the tailgate. If I need full length in the bed, they move to one side. Easy peasy. Not quite as convenient but more versatile.

There you go. I also have two large & two small action packers for all the camping gear. Just load up for the 4 totes and we're ready to go.
