Seafoam: Before & After Pictures!!!
So I was cleaning my throttle body yesterday & when I looked into the plenum I was blown away at how much sh** was stuck on the walls. So I thought this would be an awesome opportunity to see if Seafoam is for real or just another scam. These are pics of the inside of the plenum from where the throttle body sits (duh). I poured 1/3 pint (1/3 of the can) through the PCV vacuum line for more even distribution with engine running, killed engine & let sit for 5 minutes then ran at about 2,000 RPM till the white smoke stopped spewing out. This is a 1999 Limited 4Runner with the 3.4L V6. Judge for yourself if it's worth $10.
BEFORE

AFTER

Better throttle response, seems to idle a little smoother and now I have photographic evidence that it does clean most, not all, of the gunk. Hopefully i'll get a little better gas milage too. I'd say it's worth $10 every oil change. I did notice though that the Seafoam didn't distribute as evenly as I thought it would. The forward most and aft "channels" in the plenum didn't get as clean as the middle "channels" did.
And if anyone from Seafoam wants to send me anonymous checks for large sums of money I will happily accept

good pics ramrod... nice to se that stuff actually works... kinda sorta...
Makes you think if they had it in a spray bottle with a long wand you could get better control of where it goes...

They do have SeaFoam in an Aerosol can, with a long rubber U jointed plastic hose to allow you to get it into your throttle body while spraying from outside. I tried it and was not impressed. Went back to the liquid in the PCV hose.

What you heard was paranoid tweaker talk. There's no way in hell it's going to cause a blown head gasket or any other engine malfunctions. So when you hear the rumor that you can hydrolock your engine with it, you can toss that garbage out too.
GOOD STUFF, USE IT!!! DON'T BE A DRAMA LLAMA!!!

I have used SeaFoam for years in multiple 4 & 6 cylinder engines, and nothing but total positive results from it! I have never heard anyone that uses it say anything about blowing up head gaskets. Now if you suspect your head gasket is about to go, then I would suggest a compression test first, obviously.

Dad always told me to put it in the gas about every 6 months, which I do to all my vehicles. Never thought to pour it in the pcv, now I have a weber installed, I want to pour it in the vacuum line that comes off the back of the valve cover right? . its a 87 22r
