rock rash.. doc, give it to me straight, how bad is it? (w/ pics)
so i went wheeling down in june lake (which was awesome!) but i noticed i had some rock rash on my rear driverside tire when we got back. it's on the outer part of the sidewall, near the band right before the shoulder. question is.. is this serious? is it still safe to drive on? are there patches to repair this so it doesn't get worse?
here's the pics.. first one is just of the rock rash, second one tried to give a size reference with a penny:

thanks for the info guys!

I have a lot worse on my BFGs and no problems. Happens all the time. Just make sure they stay balanced. When rashing happens you also run the risk of scrapping off the wheel weights.
In this pic you can see the rock bites( white spots ) because I like the white letters out which on BFGs means that there is a layer of white under the black on that sidewall. These rims and tires have had more than 20,000 miles on since the bites.
